THE THEME: Landscapes inspired by Ansel Adams

PICZ gives you the opportunity to (re)discover the work and style of the famous American photographer Ansel Adams (1902-1984).

He is best known for his black and white images of the American West and his iconic shoots of Yosemite’s. This quarter we propose you to get the inspiration from Adams work and to explore his technic to shoot your own iconic landscape photographies.

While we ask you to find the inspiration from him, do not feel oblige to copy his work. Once again we want you to be creative and to have fun so don’t hesitate to revisite his style and technic and to surprise us.

Title: Aletsch Gletscher in Autumn

Description: This was my last perfect weather hike in the Aletsch Arena area this October to finish the season. Most of cable cars were already closed, so I needed a bit of time to get up there and enjoy the magnificent view of the Great Aletsch Glacier whilst having equally magnificent and clearly visible Matterhorn behind my back. Going there, I was planning to capture the autumn views inspired by Ansel Adams but the weather conditions were simply too perfect for what I had originally in mind. The crystal clear sky and total lack of clouds which for me make a great job in a landscape shot, made this photo quite flat unfortunately…. Canon EOS 5D Mark III + Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM, f/10, 1/500, ISO-100, 32mm.
