THE THEME: Landscapes inspired by Ansel Adams

PICZ gives you the opportunity to (re)discover the work and style of the famous American photographer Ansel Adams (1902-1984).

He is best known for his black and white images of the American West and his iconic shoots of Yosemite’s. This quarter we propose you to get the inspiration from Adams work and to explore his technic to shoot your own iconic landscape photographies.

While we ask you to find the inspiration from him, do not feel oblige to copy his work. Once again we want you to be creative and to have fun so don’t hesitate to revisite his style and technic and to surprise us.

Description: Photo taken during an outing at the North Sea in Belgium. The sky had an interesting texture but shooting the flatness of the land and sea would not bring me close to Ansel Adams by any mean. The only detail which was coming out of the flatness were these small dunes of sand and grass between the road and the beach. Their yellow and green colours gave a wonderfull impressionist view but since we have to follow the Ansel Adams inspiration, I resolved myself to turn it into B&W. I hope the resulting texture will also provide our jury some appeal.
