Whether you’re interested in getting into photography, thinking about buying a camera, have a camera (but don’t know what all the buttons and knobs do) or just fancy a refresher of the basics of photography, this session is for you.
This session will be in the English language and will focus on digital photography.
In this three hour session you will learn about:
- Types of camera, lenses and available accessories
- “Anatomy” of a modern digital camera
- Focal length and angle of view of a lens
- Aperture
- Depth of field
- Shutter speed
- Camera sensors and ISO sensitivity
- Sensor size and effective focal length
- Exposure
- Light metering
- Camera modes
- White balance
- File formats
- EXIF data
- Composition techniques
- My tips, tricks, typical settings and recommendations for various types of photography
You may wish to bring:
- Your camera (especially to practice or ask questions)
- Paper and pen to make notes (presentation will be provided electronically)
Some drinks and snacks will be provided.
How to find us
We will meet at the PICZ photo studio Limmatalstrasse 184, 8049 Zurich-Höngg at 10am. This is close to Meierhofplatz which can be reached from Zurich HB with Tram 13 (direction: Frankental), Bus 46 (direction: Rütihof), from Alstetten station with Bus 80 (direction: Oerlikon, Bahnhof Nord) or by car (parking in the Coop car park, entrance on Regensdorferstrasse). The entrance is on the west side of the building, down some steps. There will be a doorbell button marked “PICZ”.
Price
The price of the session is CHF50, payable in cash, by TWINT or as a direct bank transfer. We have to cover the cost of studio rental, refreshments and other incidental costs, so we may have to charge you even if you don’t attend, if you already signed up.
